I have a horror story to tell you. I joined a network marketing company a few years back when I was just starting out and a friend of mine joined the same company but with another team. 6 months later he was making $10,000 a month and I was only making $4000 a month. It got worse he kept making more and I was struggling. Here is the craziest thing, I actually showed this buddy of mine how to do his first Google Adwords Campaign. He spent 25 cents on a ad and this super Network Marketer signed up under him and it just got ugly. Well beautiful for him I guess. The guy who signed up under him was part of this huge network of industry professionals who had it all. The training the calls the closers, everything.You may not want to hear this but the problem was, everyone wanted to join the team he was lucky enough to be part of. He didn’t even know it really. But they had all the support in the world and high profile heavy hitters that just stole the show. And no matter how great I was, people wanted to be in the “Hottest Team”. Well, we are all still friends and guess who’s team I am part of now, yeah, you guessed it, THAT team. I am no dummy. Being on a unsupported team will never happen to me again.

I made up my mind that I would never just join a team again without investigating who i was joining up under. Now yes I know it’s about who is under you and how hard you work, but let’s be honest if you have a lot of incredible people above you creating and contributing to your success it can be very beneficial.

I am a go getter but here are some of the basics I need in a team when i join anything.

Constant communication of new meeting and webinars and calls.
Unbelievable training and support.
Internet presence.
This one is big! High profile upline members so you can say “Yeah, I am in that persons downline”. People in the headlines, so you can drop their names on get them on a three way call with one of your prospects.
Videos and top notch presentation materials.
Knock it out of the park communicators. People who are closers.

I don’t actually expect this one because only a few offer it and that is, community site development. it’s something I personally add to the mix that even the big boys don’t do. It’s a hobby of mine and trust me many of these people will be in my downline soon.
